# Boost libraries NFD requires [Boost libraries](http://www.boost.org/), a collection of free peer-reviewed portable C++ libraries. NFD should compile and work with [Boost 1.58.0](http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_58_0/) 1.54.0](http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_54_0/) and above. If your distribution does not provide these libraries natively, they can be installed following the instructions in [[Boost FAQ]]. All libraries in Boost 1.58 1.54 can be used.
