# Boost libraries NFD requires (a subset of) the [Boost libraries](https://www.boost.org/), libraries](http://www.boost.org/), a collection of free peer-reviewed portable C++ libraries. NFD and ndn-cxx should compile and work with [Boost 1.65.1](https://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_65_1/) 1.58.0](http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_58_0/) and above. If your distribution does not provide these libraries natively, they can be installed following the instructions in [[Boost FAQ]]. All libraries in Boost 1.58 can be used.
