Installing NFD on Fedora ======================== The trick in compiling and installing NFD and the library on Fedora 20 is that Fedora by default is configured to look for libraries only in `/usr/lib` and for binaries only in `/usr/bin` (as opposed to also `/usr/local/lib` and `/usr/local/bin` as additional options). To make sure Fedora finds libraries in /usr/local/lib folder, add a new entry for `ld.conf`. NFD and ndn-cxx can be either installed into `/usr` (as shown below). For 64-bit platform, this would be sudo echo /usr/local/lib64 > /etc/ld.conf.so.d/usr_local_lib64.conf It is also possible to install NFD and ndn-cxx in standard location `/usr`, by adding `--sysconfprefix=/etc` during `./waf configure` stage. a custom location. However, in this case `PATH` and `LD_LIBRARY_PATH` environment variables need to be adjusted to proper values. Installing prerequisite ----------------------- sudo yum install git gcc-c++ openssl-devel sqlite-devel cryptopp-devel boost-devel libpcap-devel On Fedora 23+ sudo dnf install git gcc-c++ openssl-devel sqlite-devel cryptopp-devel boost-devel libpcap-devel Compiling and installing ndn-cxx library ---------------------------------------- git clone git://github.com/named-data/ndn-cxx cd ndn-cxx ./waf configure sudo ./waf install --prefix=/usr --sysconfprefix=/etc sudo ldconfig Compiling and installing NFD ---------------------------- git clone --recursive git://github.com/named-data/NFD cd NFD ./waf configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfprefix=/etc sudo ./waf install
