I have reverted to the original NFD codebase and imported all NFD history as well. I also have upgraded NFD codebase to the latest available code.
It is possible to merge with upstream changes using the following command (it is also in NFD/README.md):
git subtree pull --prefix=NFD https://github.com/named-data/NFD master
