While we don't presently make use of the controller functionality in Mininet or Mininet-wifi in our provided examples, it is presently still tentatively enabled on default switches and access points [[https://github.com/intrig-unicamp/mininet-wifi/issues/305]] and could potentially cause unexpected behavior in the future. It would likely behoove us to use the "OVSBridge"/"OVSBridgeAP" classes as a default for switches and APs respectively which change the OVS failure mode to standalone, which always emulates a "legacy switch" when a controller is not connected. This will hopefully prevent potential issues with undocumented behavior in the future.
