In the long run, I'm not sure about "importing". After we make it work with importing, we should try to make it work with just using ndn-tools as git submodule.

How about this? One redmine issue for "Attaching ndn-tools as a submodule" and another one "Running the ping application from ndn-tools"?
I don't see a value of creating too many redmine issues..
