The client side program must behave differently depending on the particular CA it is requesting the certificate from. For instance, certain CAs might require that only specific challenges be used, or have a unique renewal/rollover period. Each CA must provide a configuration file with these parameters, so the client can use them to fashion appropriate requests to the CA for certificates. A format for this configuration file needs to be determined, especially to establish how challenges will be represented.
