Description
NLSR's Hello protocol currently makes the assumption that the network is a narrowcast type, which allows for enumeration of neighbors, etc. This makes Hello protocol currently unsuitable for use on a broadcast link, such as WiFi.
- NLSR would be able to contact neighbors over a broadcast link, such as WiFi.
- NLSR would be able to proactively query for particular neighbors over broadcast, e.g. if a known neighbor stops responding.
- NLSR would be able to mix network types, if one interface is ethernet, and another is WiFi, for example.
- NLSR would be able to function on either network type without configuration or operator intervention.
This is a CI-NEW (NDN-CRI) grant goal, for year three.
