20140523 conference call clarifies that Channel dataset won't contain anything about Ethernet, because Ethernet has no channels, and Ethernet faces are in Face dataset.

Should the channel status dataset namespace be ndn:/localhost/nfd/channels/list instead of ndn:/localhost/nfd/faces/channels ? This would be more consistent with the face status and strategy-choice datasets. It's also similar to how we name strategies (e.g. ndn:/localhost/nfd/strategy/best-route).

It would be nice to have a common namespace theme (such as list) to denote that something is a dataset.

ndn:/localhost/nfd/faces/channels is chosen because channel dataset is part of face management protocol.

Understood, but I'm wondering if it's useful to have a more specialized "channel management" protocol (still handled by the FaceManager) to maintain consistency.

Is it possible that we might want to have a channel status change notification in the future? This could fall under ndn:/localhost/nfd/channels/events.
