Feature #4145
openNDN over Wi-Fi Direct for Linux
70%
Description
This feature is to develop the protocol that lets a Linux machine with Wi-Fi Direct capabilities talk to other Linux devices using Wi-Fi Direct standard using NDN. The feature has two main parts - first is to achieve a stable connection between the two devices at a link layer level, second being developing the protocol that works with the NFDs on both the sides to help the connected nodes share the prefixes they serve, can connect to or wish to have.
The protocol uses naming rules for the prefixes that are consistent with those used in NDN Over Wi-Fi Direct for Android protocol to facilitate interoperability between Linux and Android in the very near future. While now there is an immediate use-case of users who wish to use NDN applications and communicate to other local Linux devices, the long-term goal can be to support seamless communication between any two devices, irrespective of the operating system they use.
